The Kittery School District is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Mathematics Teacher to join the dedicated faculty at R. W. Traip Academy, our public high school serving grades 9 through 12. This is a full-time, permanent position with a start date of August 27, 2025. The successful candidate will also participate in a two-day new employee orientation August 21 and 22.

About The Position

The Mathematics Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction aligned with the Maine Learning Results and supporting students in developing strong mathematical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and a growth mindset. Course assignments may include Algebra I and II, Geometry, Precalculus, Statistics, or other high school-level math courses depending on the strengths and experience of the selected candidate.

  • Design and deliver engaging mathematics instruction that meets the diverse needs of all learners
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies, including technology integration, to support student learning
  • Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the mathematics department and across disciplines
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and staff
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives and professional development

  • Demonstrated expertise in secondary mathematics content and pedagogy
  • Experience delivering the College Board’s AP mathematics courses is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, student-centered learning environment
  • Experience with standards-based instruction and assessment preferred
  • Familiarity with a proficiency-based model of teaching, learning, and assessing is a plus
