Job summary

Western Michigan University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Faculty Specialist I/II in Mathematics. The role supports undergraduate teaching and service missions, with a possible summer instructional component. The expected start date is August 15, 2027.

The successful candidate will oversee multi-section courses, mentor instructors, and contribute to department and university committees while advancing teaching innovations and student success.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctoral degree in applied mathematics, mathematics, mathematics education, or a closely related field, awarded by August 15, 2028 from an accredited institution.
• Three years undergraduate teaching in mathematics or a closely related field.
• Experience working with multiple instructors on a common course.
• Experience with online learning-management systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective mathematics instruction to undergraduate students in service courses.
• Lead teams of instructors (including graduate students and adjunct instructors) in multi-section courses, including schedule, syllabus, course objectives, assessments, and professional development.
• Contribute to department, college, and university committees.
