Learning Explorer seeks a highly motivated Mathematics Assessment Content Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mathematics education and teaching experience, as well as subject matter expertise. Prior experience in assessment development and item writing is required.

This is a remote, contract position that requires 20-30 hours per week over the summer and 10-15 hours per week at other times of year.

The successful candidate will work with a team to create high-quality assessments for mathematics courses that align with state standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Assessment Content Development and Review

• Develop mathematics assessment items that align with state learning standards and the requirements of state assessments, including various item types.
• Adhere to assessment design principles.
• Implement feedback and refine content.
• Collaborate with team members, including assessment design managers and other subject experts.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in mathematics education, mathematics, or a related field
• In-depth knowledge of mathematics curriculum and state standards
• Prior experience in assessment development and item writing
• Experience teaching mathematics, with secondary-level math preferred
• Excellent writing and analytical skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and take constructive feedback
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work remotely
• Experience with Google Workspace apps
• Experience with Trello is a plus
• Experience with K-12 assessment management systems is a plus

Must be available 20-30 hours per week over the summer and 10-15 hours at other times of year
