Job Description

To plan, instruct, and organize instructional environments which help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an approved education program in subject area.
  • North Carolina teaching license.

Essential Job Functions
  • Have materials, supplies, and equipment ready at the start of each lesson; get the class started quickly; maintain a high level of student time‑on‑task.
  • Establish rules and procedures governing routine administrative matters and student behavior; monitor behavior during all activities; maintain dignity of the student while enforcing rules.
  • Begin lesson with a review of previous materials; introduce objectives; present lesson using understandable concepts; assign tasks with high success rate; ask appropriate questions; conduct lesson at a brisk pace with appropriate slowing; make efficient transitions.
  • Maintain clear work standards and due dates; circulate during class work to check performance; use oral, written, and other work products to check progress; pose questions clearly and one at a time.
  • Provide feedback on correctness or incorrectness of in‑class work; provide prompt feedback on assigned out‑of‑class work; affirm correct oral responses; provide sustaining feedback after incorrect responses.
  • Have an instructional plan compatible with school and systemwide curricular goals; use diagnostic information to develop and revise objectives; maintain accurate records; align objectives, learning strategies, assessment, and student needs.
  • Treat all students fairly and equitably; interact effectively with students, co‑workers, parents, and community.
  • Carry out non‑instructional duties as assigned; adhere to laws, policies, rules, and regulations; follow a plan for professional development and demonstrate growth.
  • Uphold the Code of Ethics and Standards for Professional conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
