Job summary

MANN MAGNET MIDDLE SCHOOL in Little Rock, AR, seeks a qualified Math Teacher for middle school. You will structure the learning environment to implement the integrated Math program per LRSD guidelines and teach 6-8 math.

Starting date is immediate under a nine and a quarter month contract with benefits. Certificate, experience, and commitment to desegregated education are required. Salary placement will follow LRSD guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Valid Arkansas teaching certificate in Middle School Math 6-8.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of online database management systems.
  • Evidence of ability to work with diverse student populations.
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of strong organizational skills.
  • Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the location and at the times designated.
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Prepares for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the principal.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with those goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the site provided and the needs and capabilities of the students.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students and provides progress reports.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as time permits.
  • Maintains content area inventory through periodic purchase requests approved by the principal.
  • Integrates mathematics with other content areas by illustrating mathematical applications.
  • Assists in identifying and utilizing community resources such as field trips.
  • Assumes the primary responsibility for teaching mathematics to assigned students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB GOAL : To structure the learning environment to study the integratedMath program outlined by the LRSD Curriculum Guides. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This position is Nine and one-fourth (9.25) month contract (190 days), plus a benefits package.NOTE:Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based on experience and LRSD’s salary placement guidelines.FLSA: EXEMPT.

Mental Functions, Physical Requirements, and Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and/or objects, and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year. Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
