Job summary

The Connecticut River Academy, operated by Goodwin University on its river campus in East Hartford, is actively seeking a full-time Middle Grades Math Teacher to join its dynamic team of educators.

The teacher will handle planning, instruction, and ongoing assessment in the general education classroom, guiding all students through the learning process and aligning with Connecticut Teacher Competencies.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Teach each student through planning and individualizing instruction to meet student needs.

• Plan a variety of appropriate individual and group activities in order to accommodate various learning styles.
• Work cooperatively with staff, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
• Select appropriate learning materials from available sources: texts, supplements, media, etc.
• Encourage students to work to the best of their abilities and to take pride in their achievements.
• Create an atmosphere conducive to the development of confidence and respect for teachers and students.
• Establish criteria for and inform students of the basis of assessment.
• Promote self-awareness, self-respect, appropriate behavior, and responsibility.
• Provide a stimulating environment in which students learn and interact.
• Assess and evaluate student learning on an ongoing basis.
• Maintain a professional attitude in working with others.
• Lift/restrain students when necessary.
• Perform other duties associated with the teaching position.

The Connecticut River Academy (http://www.ctriveracademy.org) is a Sustainability Studies/Early College magnet school operated by Goodwin University on its river campus in East Hartford serving students in grades 6 through 12. We are actively searching for (1) full time Middle Grades MathTeacher's to join our dynamic team of educators.

The teacher is responsible for all planning, teaching, and assessment in the general education classroom to guide all children through the learning process.

The teacher is responsible to the Director of their school.
