Math Teacher- Incarnate Word High School

Description

Incarnate Word High School, an all-girls Catholic high school sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, seeks a Math teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. The position entails a full-time teaching schedule. Candidate must have current licensure. The school seeks to maintain a fully and authentically Catholic environment.

REPORTS TO:

This position reports to the Principal of Incarnate Word High School (IWHS).

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

1. Prepare curriculum documents to include standards, scope and sequences, syllabi, and lesson plans.
2. Use appropriate and varied instructional strategies, activities, and materials to promote student success and achievement.
3. Consistently monitor student achievement through appropriate and varied formative and summative assessments.
4. Update the school's electronic grade book site Blackbaud plans and student grades at least once per week.
5. Keep class pages in Google Classroom current.
6. Post lesson plans weekly.
7. Establish and maintain open communication with students, their parents, and administration.
8. Attend faculty meetings, events, and professional development.
9. Collaborate with other faculty members for professional, instructional, and supervisory duties.
10. Assume a variety of roles in support of student activities outside of class, both during the school day and after normal school hours.
11. Attend all faculty retreats, and class retreats as assigned.
12. Attend all faith-centered activities to include school liturgies and prayer services.
13. Have the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and co-workers.
14. Willingness to assume other extra-curricular duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Have knowledge of both curriculum and instruction, and the ability to engage and instruct students in the content area.
2. Have the ability to manage a classroom along with student behavior.
3. Promptly address student needs through interventions, including modifying instructional approaches.
4. Have the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and co-workers.
5. Be a lifelong learner of his/her practice, and have an openness to self-reflect, receive, and implement feedback on improving their teaching skills.
6. Understanding of the Mission of Incarnate Word High School.
7. Successful completion of VIRTUS and background check.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Math (or relevant degree area).
2. A valid Texas Teacher’s Certificate, or 12 credit hours in education courses.
3. Technology Proficiency (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, multimedia presentations, and internet use for educational purposes).
