Description

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Assist and support the building principal to ensure on-site administration, execution of the district's educational programs, policies, regulations, and quality instruction in a safe and healthy environment.

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's instructional curriculum program, with written evidence of preparation as required.
  2. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations.
  4. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
  5. Establish a system of student evaluation within the guidelines prescribed in state law or adopted by the school district.
  6. Continuously evaluate and record various aspects of students’ progress and report to parents as needed and required.
  7. Teach within the course of study for the subject area at the prescribed grade level.
  8. Understand and plan lessons leading to subject area objectives, including written lesson plans for substitutes.
  9. Provide a variety of planned learning experiences using diverse media and methods to motivate students and optimize instruction time.
  10. Identify pupil needs and collaborate with professional staff to assess and help students resolve health, attitude, and learning problems.
  11. Be available for counseling with students and parents before and after school.
  12. Participate in activities like open house and PTA meetings to interpret educational programs to the community.
  13. Plan and coordinate the work of aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers when applicable.
  14. Work with the principal to develop the evaluation system in accordance with district guidelines.
  15. Maintain accurate records of student information, reports, and required documents.
  16. Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to sit, use hands, talk, or hear; frequently reach with hands and arms; occasionally stand and walk; routinely lift/move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision.

Work Environment:

Typically moderate noise level. District-wide travel may be required. Remote work is not an option for campus-based employees due to the necessity of onsite presence.

Qualifications
