Job summary

Community Unit School District 308 seeks a Mathematics teacher with a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) and Mathematics Endorsement to lead AP and dual credit courses, delivering rigorous instruction aligned to district standards.

The teacher will plan and assess learning, manage classes, communicate with families, and collaborate with colleagues to support student growth and achievement. Experience with curriculum design and equitable teaching is valued.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois PEL with Mathematics Endorsement.
• Recent teaching experience in mathematics; new graduates considered.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy and current teaching techniques.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and time management skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain relationships with students, families and colleagues.
• Interest in teaching AP and willingness to teach Dual Credit/College Credit courses.
• Master's degree in content area preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare lessons effectively with clear instructional outcomes.
• Demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy and connect with other disciplines.
• Apply knowledge of student backgrounds to plan for groups of students.
• Set instructional outcomes aligned to standards and assess accordingly.

• Design coherent instruction engaging all students in meaningful learning.
• Develop student assessments with clear criteria and use results to adapt instruction.
• Establish a learning environment with respect, high expectations and smooth procedures.
• Manage student behavior and classroom routines to maximize learning.
• Organize space and technology to ensure safety and accessibility.
• Communicate expectations clearly and use effective questioning and discussion.
• Engage students with rigorous activities and culturally responsive teaching.
• Provide timely feedback and monitor student progress for self-assessment.
• Collaborate with families and staff; participate in professional learning communities.
