Job summary

Texans Can Academies in Fort Worth is seeking a dedicated teacher to provide students with learning activities designed to promote growth across intellectual, emotional, physical, and social domains.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and a Texas teaching certificate (preferred) with ability to deliver instruction, assess student progress, and collaborate with staff and special education teams. On-site position housed on campus in DFW or Houston.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate in the content area preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of IEP processes and inclusive instructional strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the district’s curriculum and show evidence of preparation.
  • Prepare lessons with accommodations for different learners.
  • Present subject matter according to Texans Can’s methodologies.
  • Conduct student assessments regularly and maintain an up-to-date gradebook.
  • Collaborate with special education staff to modify curricula per IEP guidelines.
  • Deliver instructional material to students with appropriate accommodations and supports.
  • Work with staff to set instructional goals and objectives.
  • Supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Learn to use technology effectively when working with students.
  • Participate in all instructional activities.

Job description

To determine prospective salary, please view the Texans Can Academies Compensation Plan. This position may also be eligible for an up to $7,000 stipend.

NOTE: This position will service students enrolled in our virtual campus but will be housed on a physical campus in either DFW or Houston.

Primary Purpose

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate in the content area preferred, but not required
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Knowledge of subjects assigned
  • Willingness to learn what is required to become a successful teacher
  • An ability to communicate effectively with students and adults
  • The ability to work with large groups of people
Major Responsibilities And Duties
Instructional Strategies
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for different learners.
  • Present subject matter according to the requirements of Texans Can’s methodologies.
  • Conduct student assessments regularly and maintain an up-to-date student gradebook.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Learn the requirements of the need for an Individual Education Plan in order to successfully deliver the instructional material to the special education students.
  • Work with other members of staff to establish instructional goals and objectives.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
  • Learn to use technology effectively when working with students.
  • Participate in all instructional activities.

  • Any and all requirements necessary to fulfill the role of a teacher.

Working Conditions

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
