Job summary

The Math Specialist role is part-time (contingent, non-exempt) with 15 hours per week at $30.00 per hour, located within York City School District. Schedule varies: either 3 days x 5 hours or 5 days x 3 hours, Monday through Friday with some school-year days off.

The program runs August 2026 through May 2027, up to 174 instructional days. The position focuses on small-group and individual math instruction for K-8 students, aiming to raise math proficiency to grade level or above.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Level I/II teaching certification; degree in education preferred
• Knowledge of best practice math concepts
• Clearances (PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal History, FBI Fingerprint, Act 168, Mandated Reporter training) within 3 years

Responsibilities

• Instruct small groups and one-on-one math lessons
• Keep accurate student data records
• Provide support for emotional needs of students
• Collect, analyze, and maintain accurate records of student progress
• Assist with individual assessment of students
• Attend workshops or professional development in best practices in math
