Job summary

Sylvan Learning is seeking a Teacher in-center to deliver math and SAT tutoring using Sylvan program materials. You will prepare lessons, engage students, and monitor progress within a structured program. The role emphasizes personalized instruction and safety in a center setting.

Ideal candidates hold a four-year degree, teaching credentials if available, and experience or familiarity with reading and math curricula. This is an on-site in-center position with ongoing program training.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree or equivalent required.
• State or provincial teaching credentials preferred.
• Minimum of one year teaching experience preferred.
• Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension preferred for reading teachers.
• AA degree required in a discipline; 3 or more years of college level math.
• Four-year degree or equivalent preferred for SAT/ACT/test prep roles.
• Knowledge of tablet computers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for each instructional session; gathers and prepares materials as appropriate.
• Greets students and initiates instruction to personally engage each student.
• Instructs students according to the design of the Sylvan programs.
• Manages students, tasks and time to create a balanced and robust instructional session.
• Evaluates and records the progress of each student on their program assignment.
• Uses praise and encouragement to ensure students are engaged and inspired to learn.
• Motivates students with Sylvan tokens for achievements.
• Records and tracks tokens earned by students.
• Manages conclusion of each instructional session and learning logs; supports student safety and well-being.
