Job summary

Inwood Academy for Leadership Charter School in New York is seeking an energetic elementary teacher to engage students in standard-aligned, active learning. You will use data to inform instruction and support a safe, inclusive classroom.

The role entails collaborating with peers to implement school-wide programs and uphold the school’s mission and culture. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) and urban teaching experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
• NYS Teaching Certificate preferred
• At least one year of teaching experience in an urban environment preferred
• Spanish proficiency preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Work in a collaborative team teaching or individual classroom setting
• Engage students in standard-aligned, active learning
• Cultivate a safe, welcoming and rigorous learning environment
• Use assessment data to inform instruction and improve student learning
• Utilize online student systems to track student progress
• Contribute to program design and implementation at grade level
• Participate in all staff programs and academic planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Work collaboratively with other staff and teachers daily
• Communicate effectively and maintain consistent relationships with students, colleagues, and families
