Job summary

Beta Academy seeks a dedicated Math Intervention Specialist to strengthen students' math fluency and attainment through building fact fluency and ST Math-based interventions.

You will collaborate with teachers to deliver targeted small-group instruction, analyze performance data, differentiate support, and model effective problem-solving while fostering a culture of Joyful Rigor and high expectations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Education or related field.
  • Six months to one year related experience or training is very helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Provide whole class or small group instruction in math fact fluency using Building Fact Fluency resource.
  • Use the ST Math program to provide instruction/interventions with Puzzle/Number Talks.
  • Provide in-class support by assisting the classroom teacher during math lessons.
  • Implement targeted math interventions in small groups to meet goals.
  • Utilize data to drive instruction and adapt teaching strategies.
  • Differentiate instruction using manipulatives and tactile tools.
  • Monitor scholar progress and document growth in math.
  • Model effective problem-solving strategies for students.
  • Receive observation, coaching, and feedback to improve practice.
  • Conduct after-school math tutorials as needed.
  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and collaborate with teachers.
  • Complete all assigned professional development and assigned reading.

Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Provide whole class or small group instruction in math fact fluency using the Beta-adopted math intervention resource: Building Fact Fluency .
  • Use the ST Math program to provide whole class or small group instruction/interventions using Puzzle/Number Talks.
  • Provide in-class support: Assist the classroom teacher by supporting scholars during math lessons and activities.
  • Implement targeted math interventions: Deliver focused small-group interventions to help struggling scholars meet academic goals.
  • Utilize data to drive instruction: Analyze scholar performance data to inform and adapt teaching strategies.
  • Differentiate instruction using manipulatives and tactile tools: Support diverse learners by incorporating hands-on strategies that cater to various learning styles.
  • Monitor scholar progress: Track and document the academic growth of assigned scholars in math.
  • Model problem-solving strategies: Guide scholars through the problem-solving process and encourage critical thinking skills.
  • Receive observation, coaching, and feedback: Participate in regular observations and apply coaching feedback to enhance instructional effectiveness.
  • Conduct after-school math tutorials (as needed).
  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs): Collaborate with teachers to align instructional practices and strategies.
  • Complete all assigned professional development: Stay up-to-date with best practices and instructional methods through required training.
  • Engage in assigned professional reading: Read and reflect on at least one assigned book related to math education.
General Job Responsibilities
  • Support the classroom teacher(s) in educating the scholars in the importance of hard work through engaging, dynamic learning that is academically, intellectually and personally challenging.
  • Implement the BA non-negotiable instructional methods of Joyful Rigor & High Expectations.
  • Foster a love of learning and celebrate scholar successes.
  • Challenge scholars to reach their highest potential.
  • Model and promote BA character traits to scholars and stress the importance of each scholar being a responsible, contributing citizen to society. Recognize and reward scholars for displaying BA character traits and uphold zero tolerance for bullying and disrespect.
  • Implement the technology and software programs provided by BA, operating and using technology for optimum results. Ensure scholars also know how to operate and use technology and software provided.
  • Support the teacher in monitoring and assessing scholars’ daily work to reflect excellence in neatness, thoroughness and scholar mastery of instructional goals. Collaboratively work with the classroom teacher(s) to ensure scholars do their best in every subject and use neat legible handwriting on assignments. Anything but a scholar's BEST is unacceptable.
Management & Organizations:
  • Supervise scholars with your full attention at all times and implement school rules/procedures (including consequences).
  • Manage and take ownership of scholar discipline in ALL areas of the school.
  • Follow school drills and sub-protocol procedures in accordance with the Parent/Scholar Handbook and utilize the Handbook as a first point of reference.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, orderly, safe, and educationally-centered environment that demonstrates BA standards of excellence. BA staff take ownership of the campus and instill this in scholars daily.
  • Have flexibility in your schedule and show up on time to the places you are scheduled.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure that you exude excellence in any responsibilities given.
  • Follow detailed instructions well.
Professionalism & Communication:
  • Demonstrate professionalism by being in regular attendance and arriving on time to work, staff meetings, tutorials, cafeteria duty, parent nights and other assigned duties.
  • Complete required training on time.
  • Work cooperatively to create an atmosphere of unity among the school community and refrain from gossip, negativity and unsupportive comments.
  • Demonstrate professionalism at ALL times. I will exercise wisdom by remaining calm, respectful and non-defensive during parent meetings, disagreements, and personal attacks.
  • Utilize professional communication with strong grammar, syntax, usage and/or spelling skills during phone conversations, personal conversations, emails, and social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. I will refrain from attacking others, fighting, or engaging in controversial subjects on social media. I will use professional communication on and off campus, refraining from attacking others, fighting, or engaging in controversial subjects on social media.   • Exhibit professionalism in appearance and follow the BA standard of dress. I will apply this standard of dress to social media posts in regards to modesty in dress and action (ex: swimsuit, cleavage, & shirtless pictures, in addition to posts with alcohol, cigarettes and bars, etc.).
  • Regularly communicate to parents about scholar achievement levels, class behavior, assigned homework, academic needs, and any concerns.
  • Check staff email a minimum of three times daily during normal working hours and check teacher in-box daily and commit to read updates, notes, and employee notices in a timely manner.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s in Education or related field.

Six months to one year related experience or training is very helpful.

Teacher’s Certificate is recommended but not required.
