Inova Maternal Fetal Medicine in Alexandria, VA is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider to join our high-risk obstetrics team. The role focuses on comprehensive care for women with complex maternal and fetal conditions, including gestational diabetes management and patient counseling.

Qualifications

• Masters in Advanced Practice Nursing or equivalent NP program.
• Licensed NP or PA with appropriate credentials.

Responsabilités

• Provide comprehensive clinical care to high-risk obstetric patients as part of the MFM team.
• Specialize in diabetes management, including testing, monitoring, and nutrition counseling.
• Monitor gestational diabetes complications such as fetal overgrowth, polyhydramnios, hypertension, preeclampsia.
• Manage pregnancy-related conditions including diabetes, genetic disorders, blood-clotting disorders, fetal growth issues, placental problems, hypertension, multiple gestations.
• Order and interpret labs, fetal monitoring, and non-stress testing.
• Educate patients about diagnoses, risks, medications, and delivery options; provide counseling.
• Cross-coverage for other MFM sites as needed.

The MFM APP for this practice will provide health assessment and direct care to MFM patients as part of the provider team. The ideal candidate has experience in women's health, gestational diabetes, and is passionate about providing high-quality care to patients experiencing complex maternal or fetal conditions.

Maternal Fetal Medicine APP Job Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive clinical care to patients with high-risk and medically complex pregnancies in collaboration with MFM physicians and the multidisciplinary care team.
• Specialize in diabetes management offering testing, monitoring, and nutrition counseling.
• Closely monitor patients for complications associated with gestational diabetes including excessive fetal growth, excessive amniotic fluid, hypertension, and preeclampsia.
• Manage conditions in pregnancy including diabetes, genetic disorders, blood clotting disorders, fetal growth abnormalities, placental issues, hypertension, and multiple gestations.
• Order and interpret testing including labs, fetal monitoring, and non-stress testing.
• Educate and counsel patients about their diagnosis, pregnancy risks, medications, treatment options and delivery.
• Cross coverage for other MFM sites as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post masters certificate program for nurse practitioners, OR certificate from an education program that is accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs/Schools, American College of Nurse Midwives, American Association of Colleges of Nursing of the National League for Nursing. For physician Assistants, graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program and certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
• Experience: No experience required.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start
• Licensure: Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; If Nurse Practitioner: RN Compact License(depending on State of primary residence) AND a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia AND a "Practice Agreement" signed by sponsoring/ supervising physician(s), AND a written "Scope of Practice/Protocol" signed by the supervising physician, AND "Drug Enforcement Administration License" (if prescribing controlled substances)
• Payor Credentialing: Ability to successfully complete the credentialing process by third-party payors and Ability to enrolled as a CMS Medicare/Medicaid payor
• Medical Staff Credentialing: Successful completion of credentialing for Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges sufficient to perform all required services

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: Completion of a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner program is strongly preferred.
• Experience: previous experience as an RN in Labor and Delivery or High Risk Perinatal or previous experience as a Women’s Health APP. Previous experience with managing patients with gestational diabetes.
