Maternal Child Health Provider

Job Description

The Department of Family & Community Medicine at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University, is accepting candidates for a maternal child health provider position at Jefferson Family Medicine Associates in Center City Philadelphia.

This is a full-time clinical faculty position at our main teaching location. It offers a supportive work environment with a diverse patient population from across Philadelphia. The successful candidate will join an existing team of MCH providers at JFMA, aiming to grow the program to over 200 deliveries annually and expand the pediatric patient base.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing clinical care in family medicine and maternal-child health, including care for uncomplicated OB patients, newborns, and women’s health procedures (LARC, endometrial biopsy, colposcopy, pessary fitting).
  2. Postpartum and newborn nursery rounding, labor and delivery shifts, and circumcisions.
  3. Some night and weekend coverage, scheduled in coordination with the Jefferson Obstetrics and Gynecology department.
  4. Participating in health equity initiatives, including seeking grant funding to improve care for underserved populations.
  5. Engaging in quality improvement and clinical service development.
  6. Managing a panel of primary care patients, including chronic, acute, and preventive care.
  7. Providing at-home telephone consultation once monthly from 5-9 PM for a large pool of DFCM call participants.
  8. Collaborating with an interprofessional team (including MAs, RNs, behavioral health specialists, social workers, and population health experts) to deliver patient-centered care.
  9. Teaching resident physicians and medical students about maternal-child health.

Requirements:

Applicants must hold an MD or DO degree, be board certified or eligible in Family Medicine, and have maternal-child health experience. Surgical delivery experience is desirable but not required. A PA medical license is required or must be obtained. Compensation and academic appointment depend on experience. Jefferson offers competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits.
