Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals seeks a Maternal Outreach Nurse Coordinator to advance maternal care across the WVU Medicine network. You will lead workforce readiness, regional outreach, and quality initiatives to improve outcomes for high-risk obstetric patients.

The role includes developing standardized education, coordinating maternal transport, and ensuring safe, timely care while aligning with national standards.

Qualifications

• RN license in state or multi-state via eNLC
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire
• BSN degree; certifications NRP, RNC-OB, C-EFM within 1 year of hire

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and oversight for maternal education, workforce readiness, regional outreach, and maternal quality initiatives across the health system.
• Oversees maternal transport, collaborates with facilities and transport teams to ensure safe transfers of high-risk obstetric patients.
• Standardizes transport, stabilization, triage, and escalation processes to improve patient safety and continuity of care regionally.
• Develops standardized maternal education for patients and clinical teams to promote evidence-based, high-quality care.
• Coordinates simulation training and workforce development focused on high-risk obstetric events and emergency preparedness.
• Supports AIM bundles and other national maternal safety standards across the organization.
• Evaluates educational programs and maternal outcomes to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Acts as liaison between tertiary maternal services and referring facilities to strengthen regional partnerships.
