We have a June 2025 opening for a full-time, **Entry Level, Materials Testing Technician to be based at our White River Junction, Vermont office**. You will work on construction projects throughout Vermont and parts of New Hampshire.
To thrive in this role, no prior experience is necessary — we will train you and pay you while you learn. Typically, you will work Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work based on project needs. Expect early mornings and late evenings, with regular overtime during the construction season.
Most days, you will drive to construction sites to perform field tests on materials such as concrete, soil, aggregate, asphalt, grout, mortar, and steel. You may be the only S.W.COLE team member on site but will interact with personnel from other companies. The work can be physical: lifting and carrying samples, walking through construction sites, or pushing a wheelbarrow. This work is year-round. Safety is a priority; you will be provided with safety-toe boots and necessary safety equipment.
Basic math skills, the ability to record observations and test results, and regular use of a computer or tablet are required. You will learn to read design plans and specifications. When not in the field, you may work in our laboratory or participate in training for certifications.
