Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation, Office of Materials and Research, Receiving Unit, processes highway construction materials samples for testing, verifies information, logs accepted samples, and ensures proper storage. Uses Excel, AASHTOware, and ProjectWise to handle documentation.

Assists field personnel with data entry, uploads final reports and failing sample notifications, and coordinates with lab units on test reporting and work orders for outsourced testing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required, plus related experience or approved equivalence.
• Ability to work in a laboratory/field setting with occasional exposure to hazards.

Responsibilities

• Verify sample information and log accepted samples.
• Store samples properly and ensure documentation accuracy.
• Assist field personnel with data entry and identification of samples.
• Upload final reports and notify on failing samples.
• Receive supplies from the Supply Depot and distribute to lab units as needed.
• Coordinate with field and OMR personnel on Change Order samples.
• Assist with test reporting and retention of test reports.
• Support training of inspectors and technicians in AASHTOware usage.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
