Qualifications

Position:Materials Technician - Crating - Level I Location: Monroe, MI
Job Id:256 # of Openings:1 POSITION SUMMARY: Provides direct support to Materials with primary focus on Crating responsibilities that support on-time delivery (OTD). Responsibilities include accurate part pulling and job material consumption, final assembly support, and the assembly, modification, and preparation of wooden crates for outbound equipment and materials. This position requires safe operation of forklifts and overhead cranes to move, stage, and load materials in support of production and shipping schedules. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Inventory Control

• Pull parts per “New Sales” job pick list.
• Work with scheduler and other team leads to meet material needs of production.
• Enter receivables into inventory control, ensuring compliance with FTA policies.
• Complete inventory cycle counts.
• Coordinate movement of outsourced materials.
• Inventory sub-assembly’s (bearing installation, bearing assembly, etc.)
• Organize physical inventory layouts, update system primary bin.

Crating

• Pull, stage, and verify parts required for crating and shipment in accordance with job requirements, pick lists, and production/shipping priorities.
• Accurately consume parts and materials to jobs as required to maintain inventory accuracy and support on-time delivery (OTD).
• Perform final assembly and preparation of “New Sales” equipment for shipment, including attachment, fit-up, and verification of components such as:
  • feet and motor adapters
  • pumps, boosters, and motor baseplates
  • drain lines and related shipment-prep components
  • pump shaft coupling assemblies
• Assemble, modify, and repair wooden crates, skids, blocking, and bracing to properly secure equipment and materials for shipment.
• Perform final packaging and crating of outbound materials to prevent damage during transportation and meet customer delivery commitments.
• Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes to pull, move, position, crate, stage, load, and unload equipment or materials.
• Coordinate daily crating priorities with Materials, Production, Shipping, and Scheduling teams to help maintain shipment readiness and improve OTD performance.

After Sales Parts Fulfillment

• Pull parts per “After Sales” job pick list.
• Work with production scheduler to meet the needs of “After Sales” orders.
• Label all parts/parts kits for easy identification by the customer.
• Package “After Sales” parts orders, in a manner that will prevent damage during shipping process.
• Document the contents and packaging method of each package.

Miscellaneous Duties

• Load/unload trucks
• Other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES:

• Must be computer literate and able to grow with evolving technology.
• Must be willing to work as a team.
• Good mechanical aptitude is a plus.
• Must be able to safely and effectively operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (primarily Word and Excel)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or its equivalent
• 1-3 year of inventory control and /or assembly experience helpful.
• Must have valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Work is performed in a manufacturing environment and requires regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, kneeling, and use of hands and arms to handle materials, tools, and equipment.
• Must be able to safely lift, carry, push, pull, and position materials and components, with maximum unassisted lifting of 50 lbs.
• May be exposed to typical manufacturing conditions including noise, moving equipment, forklifts, overhead cranes, dust, wood materials, packaging materials, and varying shop temperatures.
• Must be able to follow established safety practices and use required personal protective equipment as directed.
