The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED, ACI Field Testing Grade 1 Certificate, and strong communication skills. A valid driver’s license and experience in construction are required. This position offers a flexible pay rate of $23–$25 per hour with unlimited overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in concrete testing is a plus.
• Military background preferred.

Job Overview

Insight Global is looking for Materials Engineering Technicians for a large engineering consulting firm in Syracuse, NY.

Work schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (occasional Saturday or early morning work during summers). Unlimited overtime available.

Pay: $23–$25 per hour (flexible based on experience such as concrete testing, density testing, higher education, etc.).

Responsibilities

Each day the technician will:

• Go to the office to meet with the manager.
• Travel to the job site using a company vehicle and perform testing, observation, and inspection tasks.
• Monitor fill placements and soil placements, work with concrete cylinders, and test concrete as it is placed.
• Transport material samples for further testing and analysis.
• Complete laboratory data entry and generate digital reports of findings.
• Communicate results to the project manager (PM), other engineering technicians, and the client.
• Check in with the PM and dispatcher to receive new assignments or close out work.
• Maintain and clean equipment and adhere to strict safety standards.

Qualifications – Must Have

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• ACI Field Testing Grade 1 Certificate
• Ability to pass a drug and background check
• Good communication skills (client‑facing)
• Experience working in construction or a similar field

Preferred Qualifications – Plus

• Two‑year degree in civil, construction technology, project management, or trade school diploma
• Military background
• Experience testing concrete
• Past positions involving outdoor/hands‑on activities
