Job summary

PRIDE Industries is seeking a Materials Supervisor to oversee warehouse delivery, receiving, storage and inventory, directing forklift operations and staff. This role requires three+ years in a warehouse with supervisory experience, plus familiarity with ISO 9000 and strong communication skills.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under broad supervision, the Materials Supervisor supervises personnel who work in areas of warehouse delivery, receiving, storage and physical inventory of various materials. The material coordinator will supervise warehouse employees and forklift operators, maintain warehouse facilities in workable order, safeguard the corporation’s investment in materials through efficient warehousing practices. This job class requires comprehensive knowledge of warehouse inventory management systems, bar-coding technology, and work order management systems and the ability to organize, budget, and manage multiple projects.

TYPICAL DUTIES
  • *Directs and supervises work performed in the warehouse.
  • *Schedules and prioritizes tasks, and ensures adherence to procedures, regulations and guidelines while minimizing errors and safety risks.
  • *Supervises employees; ensures a competent, motivated team through hiring, training, development, counseling and reviewing the performance of employees.
  • *Manages federal compliance program and develops compliance reports.
  • *Acts as a technical resource to field personnel and actively engages in field issues.
  • *Reviews work in progress and completed to ensure that work is performed according to instructions.
  • *Participates in a variety of departmental and other meetings on a regular basis.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three of more years of experience working in a warehouse environment with one year of supervisory experience;
  • Knowledge and ability to monitor materials utilization, and to track the procurement, storage and disposition of supplies and equipment;
  • Ability to develop and recommend process improvements related to stock control issues (central and remote locations);
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations regarding the application and management of hazardous materials;
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000;
  • Supervisory skills to hire qualified employees, provide for their professional development, administer performance management and disciplinary processes effectively, and address employee relations appropriately;
  • Ability to effectively supervise and develop assigned team to meet production/service goals while adhering to safety policies and rules;
  • Effective oral and written communication skills using appropriate business English;
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, common sense and problem solving skills;
  • Human relation skills to build effective relationships with team and customers;
  • Effective customer service skills;
  • Intermediate computer literacy including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software;
  • Knowledge of business English including vocabulary and spelling;
  • Fundamental mathematical ability including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division;
  • Ability to establish priorities and solve operational problems;
  • Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle numerous projects at the same time.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Associates

Bachelors Business Administration or related field

A comparable combination of formal education and work experience will be considered.

CERTIFICATES OR LICENSES REQUIRED

The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements.

Fed Security Clearance

Valid Driver's License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Maneuvering in and around the warehouse
  • Bending and stooping
  • Lifting and moving boxes weighing up to 35 pounds
  • Pulling or pushing up to 75 pounds
  • May require using a pallet jack
  • Climbing on and off material handling equipment
  • Viewing Computer screen
  • Utilizing keyboard
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a commissary, warehouse, or distribution environment with forklifts, material handling and production equipment. May be exposed to noise from equipment and depending on external weather conditions exposure to heat, cold, wind, and rain.
