Job summary

JOB DESCRIPTION

Materials Supervisor

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all material control systems, inbound/outbound shipments, and materials handling activities and inventory control primarily from the shop floor.
  • Coordinate all material handler activities and activities for warehouse layout.
  • Train, coach, and develop the material handling team.
  • Implement and assist in development of cycle counting and pull system for each commodity.
  • Manage and coordinate the receiving and DMR processes.
  • Manage the input of incoming receipts on a timely basis.
  • Manage the process of outbound shipments.
  • Coordinate all customs compliance requirements.
  • Observe Materials/Production operation within their area of control to ascertain compliance with methods, quality standards, safety regulations, 5’s, and Production/Materials Standards.
  • Ensure efficient operation of equipment and take corrective action to eliminate deviations.
  • Assist in maintaining and revising visual inventory benchmark standards.
  • Coordinate daily Production builds schedules and conduct daily floor walks.
  • Liaison between Materials and Production and coordinate any outside warehouse activities.
  • Run RPS history reports and cumulative reports to verify that receipts have been collected in the RPS file.
  • Manage supplier cumulative reconciliation and monitor the system for accurate tracking of Truckload Utilization (TUMS).
  • Initiate action to prevent non-conformities relating to product, process, and quality system.
  • Manage and maintain onsite replenishment of trailers (shelves).
  • Identify and record problems relating to product, process, and quality system.
  • Initiate, recommend, and provide solutions through designated channels.
  • Control further processing, delivery, or installation of non-conforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition is corrected.
  • Actively participate in Health/Safety/Environmental investigations and the 8D process to develop root cause analysis for problem resolution.
  • Report accidents, occupational illnesses, and HSE&E emergencies, and inform supervisor of known HSE&E conditions that could adversely affect team members, assets, or the public.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and establish safe working procedures in assigned material areas.
