Job summary

Areté, based in Tucson, AZ (with Niwot, CO), seeks a Materials Department Lead to direct materials operations across locations. You will own the materials strategy, build a high-performing team, and partner with Engineering, Production, Procurement and Finance to ensure materials readiness for defense and commercial programs.

This exempt, full-time leadership role requires DoD/DFARS/ITAR knowledge, Costpoint or other ERP experience, and a track record of inventory optimization and cost control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years in materials, supply chain, or procurement operations.
• 2+ years of leadership/managerial experience.
• Experience in defense contractor or aerospace environments.
• Experience with MRP/ERP systems (Costpoint, Oracle, SAP, or similar).
• Knowledge of ITAR/EAR compliance and DoD contracting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and develop materials across all locations.
• Own end-to-end materials operations: planning, procurement, inventory, shipping.
• Develop and execute strategic materials plans aligned with programs.
• Establish materials systems, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with DoD requirements, DFARS, ITAR/EAR, FAR.
• Partner with Engineering, Production, Procurement, Quality, PM, Finance.
• Implement and optimize MRP/ERP systems (Costpoint valued).
• Lead continuous improvement on inventory accuracy and costs.
• Manage materials budgets and EAC processes.
• Serve as primary materials interface for customer engagements.
