Base pay range

$100,000.00/yr - $120,000.00/yr

We’ve teamed up with a revolutionary start-up that offers a novel manufacturing platform harnessing the full power of light to achieve first-of-its-kind advancements in 3D nanofabrication. With over $20m in venture & grant funding to date, they’re expanding their team and seeking a Materials Scientist in Waltham, MA. The team currently has 20+ members, with plans to scale throughout 2025, making it an excellent time to join.

This role is primarily on-site due to the nature of the project, but flexible working arrangements are available. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

What will I do?

This role involves developing and characterizing novel materials for the company's nanofabrication platform. Responsibilities include synthesizing and patterning electrical conductive or high refractive index nanomaterials into nanoporous scaffolds for 3D electronics and photonics using multi-photon lithography. The candidate will specialize in inorganic nanoparticle synthesis, support material fabrication & metrology techniques, and collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and product teams.

What skills do I need?
  • Academic background in Chemistry, Materials Science, Nanotechnology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in inorganic material synthesis, nanoparticle synthesis, or nanomaterial surface functionalization.
  • Knowledge of optics, photonics, or electronic applications of nanomaterials.
  • Familiarity with characterization techniques such as UV-Vis absorption, fluorescence, optical microscopy, etc.
  • Awareness of advanced techniques like EDS, XRD, NMR, SEM, TEM, etc.
  • Understanding of experimental design fundamentals.
