Job summary

Formlabs, based in Boston, seeks a Materials Scientist to research and develop world-class materials for additive manufacturing. You will collaborate with hardware and software teams to ensure materials print reliably on our printers and to push material performance to new levels.

The role emphasizes designing rigorous experiments, data-driven optimization, and thorough documentation, with a path to commercialization. A PhD or MS in a relevant field is welcome.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of materials science and polymer development.
• Experience developing materials for 3D printing (SLA/DLP or SLS).
• Ability to design and conduct rigorous experiments and interpret data.
• Strong documentation practices and autonomous work style.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and develop world-class materials for 3D printing from lab to commercialization.
• Collaborate with hardware/software teams to ensure materials print reliably on Formlabs hardware.
• Design, perform and analyze experiments to improve material performance.
• Partner with product management and engineers to continuously improve materials.
