Job summary

SCHOTT North America seeks a highly qualified materials scientist to design and develop advanced ceramic, glass, and glass-ceramic materials for optical and technical applications. You will lead experiments connecting composition, processing, and microstructure to properties and will help translate findings into scalable manufacturing processes.

The role requires PhD preferred in a related field, with experience in development, process optimization, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

PhD preferred in materials-related field with strong research background.
Ability to design experiments to relate composition, processing, microstructure to properties.
Experience in translating data into scalable manufacturing/process improvements.

Responsibilities

Design and develop advanced ceramic, glass, and glass-ceramic materials for optical and technical applications.
Lead experimental programs to link composition, processing, microstructure to material properties.
Develop, optimize, and scale manufacturing processes including powder prep, forming, sintering, finishing, and characterization.
Drive innovation by identifying new material and technology opportunities and advancing concepts to commercialization.
Lead cross-functional teams, coordinate resources, and communicate results to stakeholders.
