Job summary

Formlabs is seeking a Materials Scientist in Somerville, MA to advance polymers and materials for 3D printing from exploratory labs through validation and commercialization. You will work with hardware and software teams to ensure compatibility and performance, and drive experiments that translate into tangible product improvements.

The role requires strong fundamentals in materials science or polymers, hands-on experimentation, and the ability to document methods and results.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of materials science and polymer development.
• Experience designing and conducting rigorous experiments to optimize materials.
• Ability to work autonomously and document results clearly.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and develop world-class materials for 3D printing from lab explorations to validation.
• Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to ensure materials print reliably on Formlabs hardware.
• Design experiments and use results to improve material performance.
• Partner with product management, hardware, and software teams to continuously improve materials.
