Key Role
Provides Materials Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) support to Project Managers (PMs), Program Executive Offices (PEOs), and internal customers with the Army ground vehicles specializing in metallurgy and advanced materials engineering. Collaborates with various stakeholders, applying expertise in steels, aluminum, titanium, and additive manufacturing. Conducts investigations and analyses for materials solutions in vehicle acquisition programs. Leads materials engineering investigations, including selection, design, fabrication, and failure analyses. Conducts physical and mechanical tests for materials characterization and emerging materials for defense applications. Coordinates Research and Development (R&D), processing, testing, and implementation of metallic and non-metallic materials for Army automotive equipment. Executes research projects involving materials such as aluminum, steel, copper, plastics, and protective coatings. Oversees R&D projects addressing effects of climatic conditions, substitutes for logistical improvements, automation opportunities, and materials failures. Analyzes plans to determine suitable materials for vehicle operations in varying conditions. Participates in meetings with customers, colleagues at other organizations, and contractors. Serves on committees, boards, and special projects, promoting technology transfer.

Basic Qualifications
- Experience in materials selection, design, fabrication, and failure analysis
- Experience in presenting technical information to various audiences
- Experience in conducting physical and mechanical tests for materials characterization
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or Materials Engineering
Additional Qualifications
- Experience in evaluating emerging materials and processes for defense applications
- Experience in coordinating with various stakeholders, including PMs, PEOs, and internal customers
- Experience with government and commercial specifications for materials
- Experience in steels, aluminum, titanium, and additive manufacturing
- Knowledge of material properties and their applications in defense and automotive industries
- Ability to lead and coordinate research and development projects
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Possession of excellent interpersonal skills
- Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Master's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, or a related field

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $61,900.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
