SpaceX is hiring a Materials R&D Specialist to drive insourced solar cell manufacturing from ingot growth to cell metrology. You will execute processing, characterization, and DOE work, propose experimental plans, and help transfer stable methods to production for Starlink silicon cells powering satellites and Starship missions.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in materials science or related STEM, or 4 years of hands-on lab experience.
• Experience in semiconductor or photovoltaic manufacturing preferred.
• Ability to write SOPs and train others.

Aufgaben

• Partner with engineering to stand up processes and drive development from ingot growth through metrology.
• Perform routine and non-routine processing and experiments; propose next steps.
• Identify new processing methods, document them, and improve lab/line operations.
• Install, calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot process/metrology equipment.
• Handle seeds, hot-zone components, wafer processing, and sample prep for trials.
• Execute DOEs, process trials, and manage impurity/defect control.
• Characterize ingot, wafer, and cell properties; keep equipment calibrated.
• Document procedures, write SOPs, and train technicians as methods move to production.
• Collaborate with engineers; present results and actionable recommendations.
• Maintain lab safety and 5S standards.
