Job summary

Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is seeking a Materials Inspector in the St. Louis District Office (Chesterfield, MO) to sample and test materials used in state highway construction and maintenance.

The role includes working under moderate supervision and advancing through a CAREER-LADDER pathway with opportunities for promotion based on knowledge and performance. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or 8 years of experience in materials

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 8 years of experience in materials inspection or related field.
• OSHA 10-Hour Certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Samples and tests general construction materials to ensure conformity with specifications.
• Samples and tests aggregate production for quality and gradation at quarries.
• Prepares samples for bituminous trial mixes and coordinates with contractors.
• May perform duties of inspector in charge at plants producing bituminous mixtures and inspect material.
• May perform inspections of prestressed or precast concrete and sampling/testing for federal aid projects.
