Job summary

Great Dane in Tennessee is seeking an on-site Inventory/Material Planner to act as the liaison for corporate buyers, ensuring timely availability of raw materials for scheduled production runs.

You will analyze trends, set safety stock levels, supervise cycle counts, and collaborate with logistics to release purchase orders and resolve discrepancies using Excel and ERP planning modules (JD Edwards preferred).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or related field, or equivalent experience with APICS CPIM.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in inventory control.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Effective email communication with internal/external customers.

Responsibilities

• Report clear to build status for materials and components and highlight risks.
• Develop plant-level strategies to optimize inventory turnover and reduce obsolescence.
• Analyze purchasing trends to set safety stock, MOQs, and recurring orders.
• Monitor open work orders and disposition to avoid inventory impact.
• Assist with invoice reconciliation alongside corporate buyer and AP.
• Coordinate with logistics to schedule material delivery before line start.
• Audit materials to verify locations and quantities are accurate.
• Determine redistribution, substitution, or disposal of excess inventory.
• Collaborate with production and other departments on material issues.
