Job summary

CJ Schwan's in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Materials Planner to coordinate inbound materials and maintain SAP master data. You will partner with Purchasing, Production and Engineering to balance supply, demand and costs while driving on-time material availability for customer commitments.

Responsibilities include planning purchases, managing supplier relationships, monitoring inventory, and coordinating with Logistics to optimize freight and storage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree, or 3 years of experience in material planning or related field.
• Strong understanding of procurement, inventory management, and materials planning principles.

Responsibilities

• Plan and procure ingredients and packaging materials based on production schedules and forecasts.
• Create and manage purchase orders and coordinate with Accounts Payable for timely supplier payments.
• Maintain supplier relationships and resolve service, delivery, and quality issues.
• Monitor inventory levels and manage aging/obsolete materials with cross-functional teams.
• Analyze demand, inventory, and supply trends to adjust orders and delivery schedules.
• Collaborate with QA, suppliers and accounting to resolve material quality concerns.
• Maintain SAP material masters, pricing, vendor records and info records.
• Coordinate inbound deliveries with transportation and warehouse teams; track POs.
• Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers for storage/handling of materials.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable material supply.
• Identify supply risks and develop mitigation plans across functions.
• Develop material planning strategies to prevent stockouts and optimize costs.
• Coordinate qualification/testing with R&D, QA, Procurement, and Operations.
• Demonstrate alignment with company mission, values and ethical standards.
