Job summary

The Materials Coordinator at Flex-N-Gate Detroit will plan and manage all incoming materials, including steel, packaging, and delivery appointments, coordinating with sub-suppliers and outside services to support manufacturing and shipping needs.

You will work closely with the Materials Manager, participate in department initiatives, and use ERP systems to ensure accurate inventory, timely replenishments, and adherence to quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years in the automotive industry recommended.
• 2 years inventory control experience and strong organizational skills.
• Experience with steel specs and ERP systems preferred.
• Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written).
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all incoming logistics planning with suppliers and ensure timely deliveries.
• Maintain inventory accuracy with ERP systems and routine cycle counts.
• Understand and apply PPAP, TS16949, ISO14001, MSDS, CTPAT and Health & Safety requirements.
• Be on-call from the plant by cell phone after hours as needed.
• Issue firm and forecast releases to vendors for production items (steel, packaging, sub-suppliers).
• Coordinate receiving schedules to ensure smooth flow of incoming products.
• Maintain inventory levels and storage locations, updating maps/charts for plant reference.
