Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate backflushing and inventory levels in MRP systems.
  • Set up ERP planning parameters and adjust as required.
  • Communicate material issues in production meetings and suggest solutions.
  • Review supplier forecasts quarterly considering demand and performance.
  • Promote lean, JIT, and best practices in material management.
  • Collaborate with vendors, purchasing, and production teams on material availability.

Job Description

As a Material Planner ll is Responsible for maintaining adequate levels of raw materials and components to support production requirements and maintenance of MRP and supporting systems. This role supports Rheem North America and is based in Montgomery, AL, (Onsite).

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and update raw material, component, and subassembly min/max reorder levels, considering delivery lead times, forecasts, and usage history.
  • Conduct inventory analysis of assigned raw materials, components, and subassemblies to maximize inventory turns.
  • Review dormant, excess, and obsolete materials monthly and take appropriate action to reduce or eliminate them.
  • Submit deviations and MRP system adjustments as needed to maintain accurate backflushing and inventory levels.
  • Set up ERP system planning parameters and update them as required.
  • Participate in production meetings to proactively communicate material issues and recommend alternatives or solutions.
  • Review and update supplier forecasts at least quarterly, considering demand forecasts, usage history, and supplier performance.
  • Identify and promote best practices related to material and inventory management, including lean manufacturing and just-in-time (JIT) methodologies.
  • Communicate and assist in resolving issues related to BOM accuracy, vendor performance, purchase orders, and other material-related concerns.
  • Communicate Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) regarding new or revised raw materials, components, and subassemblies to the appropriate production teams.
  • Collaborate with vendors, production, purchasing, production control, material control, and other stakeholders regarding material availability and inventory levels.
  • Assist in developing and recommending strategies to improve material flow and enhance the ability to accommodate schedule changes with minimal disruption and loss of efficiency.
  • Support achievement and maintenance of department KPIs established by the Materials Manager and Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years of related experience. or minimum 7 years equivalent combination of education and experience in field of material planning.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in planning, organization, integration, and control with respect to the material planning function.
  • Strong communicative skills (speaking, writing & listening) with the ability to present information and respond to questions from groups.
  • Independent thought, good judgment, problem solving skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • A team player with solid interpersonal skills with an ability to work in matrix team environment.
  • Self-motivated with little or no supervision.
  • Proficiency in computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.)
How To Stand Out
  • Training and/or experience in MRP systems
  • Training and/or experience in Lean Manufacturing
  • Ability to develop forecast, implement JIT and Kanban Systems
  • APICS Certification
