Job summary

Belcan in Livonia is seeking a Material Planner I to work with suppliers and operations to deliver the right material at the correct quantity and time to meet production schedules. The role communicates with suppliers, purchasing and operations teams to ensure schedule alignment.

The position requires 3+ years of supply chain experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and strong MS Office skills for planning and reporting. This is an on-site role at Belcan facilities in Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Use ERP system to plan material and production requirements with forecast focus.
• Coordinate with suppliers to issue planning POs/releases and forecasts.
• Escalate and resolve planning issues with cross-functional teams.
• Manage changes from ECOs and forecast updates.
• Collaborate with operations to ensure schedule coverage and feasibility.
• Attend end-of-life balance meetings when required.
• Track material delivery and report supplier shipments.
• Analyze expedited material requests as needed.
• Maintain compliance with company policies.

Work Hours: 7:30-4:30 (1 hr lunch or 7:30 - 4:00 with ½ hr lunch)

Job Summary:

The Material Planner I will work with suppliers and operations to deliver the right material at the correct quantity and at the right time to meet production schedules. The role will communicate with suppliers, purchasing and operations team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure continuous production by utilizing the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system"s material and production requirements, with a focus on forecast and dependent demand.
• Communicate and coordinate with suppliers to ensure they receive planning generated purchase orders or releases, as well as forecasts.
• Escalate and resolve any issues or discrepancies found during the planning process to the appropriate cross-functional team members.
• Effectively manage material requirement changes resulting from Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and forecast changes.
• Work closely with the operations team to ensure any changes in the schedule are covered and can be achieved.
• Participate in program end of life balance out meetings.
• Follow up and track the delivery of material to meet the schedule. The planner is responsible for tracking down and reporting supplier shipments and other duties as required.
• Analyze expedited requests as needed.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Education and Experience (required):

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of supply chain experience.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities (required):

• Ability to be effective in a fast paced, dynamic team environment, handling multiple tasks.
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent computer skills including MS Office - Word, Excel (advanced formulas, pivots, if/ then), Outlook.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities (preferred):

• Basic understanding of how a supply chain flows from the supplier"s supplier to our customer"s customer as well as general business practices.
• Proven ability to solve complex issues by triaging for short term recovery as well as identifying root cause. Material planner is key in assisting the team in putting corrective actions in place.
• Solid understanding of materials flow and inventory triggers.
• Self-starter who seeks out ways to improve processes before being asked.
• Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) certification.
