Job summary

BARNES AEROSPACE in Michigan is seeking a Materials Planner to manage capacity planning, detailed scheduling, material requisitions and shop-floor/inventory control to ensure on-time production.

You will align master schedules with sales/production forecasts, drive schedule adherence, collaborate with engineering, customer service and production, and contribute to Lean improvements while maintaining strong regulatory compliance and proficiency in MS Office and MRP systems.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Business or related field preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in production scheduling and manufacturing or related field.
• Regulatory Compliance, Export Compliance (EAR and ITAR) experience.
• Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Organizational and problem-solving skills.
• MRP system experience in production/material inventory control.
• Knowledge of processes and machines related to products manufactured within given business unit.
• Proven success interacting with peers, senior management and other functional areas.
• Ability to work independently, multi-task and drive Lean process improvements.
• Advanced ability to communicate both written and orally in English.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain capacity plan and detailed scheduling for production.
• Schedule work for operations/machines considering raw materials and shipping dates.
• Ensure Master Schedule aligns with booked and forecast Sales/Production Plan.
• Balance capacity and communicate adjustments to production and materials supervisors.
• Execute scheduling decisions to maintain schedule adherence and monitor performance.
• Collaborate with Engineering to manage introduction of new parts.
• Coordinate with customer service and production on changes and cancellations.
• Identify capacity constraints with Estimating to improve capacity for customer demand.
• Document process problems and propose solutions to improve operations.

Core Responsibilities (Materials Planner Duties):

• Responsible for Capacity Planning, Detail scheduling, Material requisitions and shop floor and inventory control.
• Schedule work for individual operations/machines and develops, maintains and drive schedule execution, considering raw materials and shipping dates of products.
• Ensure alignment of the Master Schedule in relation to booked and forecast Sales/Production Plan. May monitor various product lines.
• Balance the Capacity Plan and communicate needed adjustments to production supervisors and materials supervisors. Alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
• Execute decisions concerning detailed scheduling and shop floor control to maintain schedule adherence. Monitor Performance and correct problems.
• Work with Engineering to manage the introduction of new parts into production.
• Work with customer service and production to on all changes, schedule cancellations, and/or customer schedule push-ins/push-outs.
• Work with estimating to proactively identify capacity constraints and facilitate improving capacity to ensure potential customer demands.
• Identify and document process problems to management and quality with proposed recommended solutions to improve operations.

Qualifications:

• Ability to build and maintain positive customer relationships
• Experience in production scheduling and manufacturing or related field or equivalent work experience
• Prior experience in Regulatory Compliance, Export Compliance (EAR and ITAR)
• Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Organizational and problem-solving skills.
• MRP system experience in production/material inventory control.
• Knowledge of processes and machines related to products manufactured within given business unit.
• Proven success interacting with peers, senior management and other functional areas.
• Ability to work independently, to multi-task handling simultaneous work assignments and projects, and drive “Lean” process improvements
