Job summary

ofi North America (Olam Food Ingredients) is seeking a Materials Planner for a fully onsite role in Las Cruces, NM. Reporting to the Supply Planning Manager, you will plan materials, place orders, create material numbers, and manage inventory for production materials and ingredients.

You will work with vendors to align delivery schedules and keep stock ready for production. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma (Bachelor’s preferred), experience in food manufacturing, and strong Excel

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in food manufacturing and inventory control beneficial.
  • Proficient in Excel and SAP; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor production schedules to ensure materials and ingredients are available.
  • Create and manage purchase orders for production materials and ingredients.
  • Work with vendors on delivery schedules and resolve discrepancies.
  • Track inventory and report performance to schedule production activities.
  • Develop strategies to reduce slow-moving or obsolete inventories.

Position Summary

ofi values in-person collaboration with colleagues – this is a fully onsite position where employees are expected to work their specific work schedule onsite. Reporting to the Supply Planning Manager, the Materials Planner is responsible for materials planning, ordering materials and ingredients, creating new materials numbers in the system, inventory control, and scheduling. The Materials Planner will oversee the receiving and tracking of materials and ingredients. The ideal candidate for this role will be able to prioritize multiple tasks while demonstrating great awareness for attention to detail. They must be able to work well independently and within a team environment.

What You’ll Do - Position Responsibilities
  • Monitor production schedules to ensure required materials and ingredients are available.
  • Ensure materials and ingredients are utilized to meet customer specifications.
  • Create new material numbers and manage soft/hard conversions of label changes.
  • Order labels and manage run out/transition from old to new labels based off forecast and inventories.
  • Create purchase orders for all production materials and ingredients needed for production.
  • Work with vendors on delivery schedules and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Interact with plant on actual usage of materials and ingredients and keep inventory stocked.
  • Research purchase orders and resolve any delivery discrepancies.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report performance to schedule production activities by utilizing information derived from material and production control systems.
  • Develop, support, and provide accountability for the inventory stocking initiatives to maximize all customer requirements in a cost-effective manner.
  • Review and develop a strategy to reduce all slow moving and obsolete inventories.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Experience You’ll Bring – Role Requirements
  • High school diploma is required, Bachelors’ degree is preferred.
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing is preferred.
  • Experience in production, inventory control, production reporting, physical inventory, reconciliation and database control is preferred.
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with all levels of employees and customers.
  • Solid computer skills with significant experience within Excel and SAP knowledge is required.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and present effective and efficient solutions in a clear and concise manner to management is required.
  • Ensure Food Safety, Legality and Quality of all products
  • Great attention to detail is required.

Benefits

The pay for this role ranges from $28.00 - $34.00 an hour and is based on position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and/or other determining factors.
