Job summary

The Structures Company is a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking a Materials Planner for our Denton, TX client project. You will examine engineering drawings to verify material specifications and build accurate BOMs within the MRP system to support procurement and production execution.

You will analyze production schedules, forecast material needs, and coordinate with Procurement and Stores to maintain optimal parts availability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in materials planning or production planning in manufacturing.
• Knowledge of MRP systems and blueprints/engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Examine engineering drawings for material/spec accuracy.
• Calculate material quantities and types required.
• Build BOM in MRP system and determine make vs buy.
• Ensure data integrity in MRP for planning, procurement, and production.
• Calculate material requirements based on schedules and forecasts.
• Generate and manage purchase requisitions aligned with production needs.
• Monitor material deliveries to align with aircraft modification schedules.
• Coordinate with Procurement and Stores to maintain material levels.
• Analyze material costs and identify optimization opportunities.
• Drive improvements in planning processes and material flow.

Summary:

• Examines engineering drawings for inaccuracies in material or component specifications.

• Reviews and evaluates engineering drawings to calculate quantities and types of material required.

• Builds Bill of Materials (BOM) in MRP system and determines make versus buy sub-assemblies.

• Ensures data integrity within MRP to support accurate planning, procurement, and production execution.

• Calculates material requirements based on production schedules, lead times, and demand forecasts.

• Generates and manages purchase requisitions in alignment with production needs.

• Monitors and tracks material deliveries to ensure alignment with aircraft modification schedules.

• Coordinates with Procurement and Stores to maintain adequate levels of parts and raw materials.

• Analyzes material costs and identifies opportunities to optimize value and reduce waste.

• Drives improvements in planning processes, material flow, and system utilization.

Requirements:

• Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 2 5 years of experience in materials planning, production planning, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.

• Experience in aerospace or aircraft interiors preferred.

• Demonstrated advanced expertise with database software, Internet software, MRP software, Inventory and order processing systems, Project Management software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and materials specifications.

• In-depth knowledge of MRP systems and logic.

• Familiarity with manufacturing flows and production planning.

• Familiarity with procurement of raw materials, standards, parts, and commodities.

• This safety-sensitive position is subject to pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable cause, and return-to-duty drug and alcohol testing under the Department of Transportation (DOT) program.
