Job summary

Wanco Inc. is seeking a Materials Planner at our Arvada, CO production facility.

The Materials Planner will manage material planning for purchased and internally manufactured materials within our ERP system, ensuring on-time supply and efficient inventory. Responsibilities include maintaining pull-based planning and MRP attributes, executing monthly forecasts and BOM explosions, monitoring min/max levels, coordinating with purchasing and production, supporting new-item and engineering-change

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of inventory planning, replenishment logic, lead times, demand signals, shortage risk, and production readiness.
  • Experience with root cause analysis tools (e.g., cause-and-effect diagrams).
  • Lean manufacturing principles including value stream, waste reduction, Flow and Pull.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Degree in supply chain management or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience using ERP data, spreadsheets, reporting tools, SQL, exports, scripts, or similar analytical tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all aspects of Min/Max and MRP within the ERP system.
  • Provide replenish signals to support production readiness and material flow.
  • Support S&OP by coordinating monthly forecast meetings and aligning demand with inventory strategy.
  • Maintain planning attributes for purchased and manufactured materials.
  • Maintain ABCD item classifications.
  • Monitor shortages, exceptions, risk, and availability; identify causes and fix.
  • Attend daily operations standups to support needs.
  • Support ECR and NPD planning with attributes, demand signals, replenishment logic, and inventory strategies.
  • Develop and communicate KPIs and related reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Wanco Inc. is seeking a Materials Planner at our Arvada, CO production facility. The Materials Planner will be responsible for managing the material planning processes for purchased and internally manufactured materials within our ERP system.

Key areas of responsibility include maintaining pull-based planning and MRP attributes; deploying monthly forecasts and BOM explosions; review and monthly rolling of min/max levels; managing material shortage and replenishment signals with purchasing and production; supporting new-item and engineering-change planning requirements; and producing KPI reporting used to monitor inventory performance and reduce shortages.

This is a highly impactful organizational role with interaction in all parts of the value stream, ideal for someone who enjoys frequent challenges and being highly collaborative with sales and operations teams. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or candidates with limited professional experience who are looking to build their skills and grow their careers.

What You’ll Do
  • Maintain all aspects of Wanco’s Min/Max, and MRP within the ERP system.
  • Work directly with purchasing and production staff, providing replenish signals to support production readiness and material flow.
  • Support S&OP activities by facilitating monthly forecast meetings, aligning forecasted demand, inventory strategy, and production build support.
  • Maintain min/max, lead-time, and other planning attributes for purchased and manufactured materials.
  • Maintain A,B,C,D item classifications.
  • Monitor shortages, inventory exceptions, risk, and material availability; identify cause and deploy correction.
  • Attend daily operations standup meeting and support operation’s needs.
  • Support the ECR and NPD process by establishing planning attributes, demand signals, replenishment logic, and initial inventory strategies for new or revised items.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate KPIs and related reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of inventory planning, replenishment logic, lead times, demand signals, shortage risk, and production readiness.
  • Experience with root cause analysis tools (e.g., cause-and-effect/Fishbone diagrams).
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles including value stream, waste reduction, Flow and Pull.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Degree in supply chain management, a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience using ERP data, spreadsheets, reporting tools, SQL, exports, scripts, or similar analytical tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, respond to changing production requirements, and maintain strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience managing MRP and min/max, reorder-point, or other pull-based inventory systems within an ERP environment.
  • Experience with ISO 9001:2015
  • Process mapping experience.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with regular shop floor interaction
  • Ability to stand, walk, and engage with production equipment as needed
  • Use of standard office equipment, including computers
  • Adherence to PPE and safety requirementsOccasional travel may be required

This position reports to Operations Management and has no direct reports

Salary Range:

$26-$43 per hour based on qualifications
