Job summary

Hitachi Global Air Power US, LLC seeks a Materials Manager to oversee material storage, movement and inventory control across multiple facilities in Michigan City, IN. You will ensure timely materials for production and partner with site leadership to meet targets.

The role requires strong leadership, analytics, and experience with SAP and MS Office to optimize logistics, reduce costs, and support digital transformation initiatives within a safe, compliant environment.

Qualifications

• Five plus years of experience in material management and inventory systems.
• Ability to partner with site leadership as a trusted staff member.
• Knowledge of inventory control software and ERP systems like SAP.

Responsibilities

• Manage material inventory control, shipping/receiving, handling and storage to support production.
• Identify opportunities to reduce transportation, storage and handling costs.
• Strategize inventory volumes and storage capacity to maximize productivity.
• Support digital transformation of material handling systems (AGVs/AMRs/cobots).
• Coordinate with manufacturing, purchasing, planning, and quality departments to resolve shortages.
• Provide weekly schedules for direct reports and monitor overtime within budget.
