Job summary

Hitachi Global Air Power US, LLC is seeking a Materials Manager at our Michigan City, IN facility to lead material inventory control, shipping/receiving, and storage for production lines. You will drive efficient inventory planning and coordinate with purchasing, production, planning, and quality teams to meet delivery targets.

The role emphasizes leading a team, optimizing storage capacity, and advancing digital material handling (AGVs/AMRs/cobots) while maintaining safety and cost discipline

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Inventory Management, Supply Chain Management, or Logistics.
• Five+ years of material management experience and working knowledge of inventory systems.
• Material Management certification such as CPIM, CSCP, CLTD, or CLT is a plus.
• Proven leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience with SAP and Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Oversee material inventory control, shipping/receiving, handling and storage for production.
• Identify opportunities to reduce transport, storage and handling costs.
• Plan inventory volumes and storage capacity for productivity targets.
• Support digital transformation of material handling (AGVs/AMRs/cobots).
• Balance workloads and supervise direct reports; coordinate with departments.
• Provide weekly schedules and monitor overtime while ensuring coverage.
• Ensure safety compliance and participate in audits.
