Job summary

Insight Global in New Jersey is seeking a hands-on Materials Manager to lead day-to-day procurement, inventory management, supplier performance, material availability, and shortage resolution in a regulated aerospace manufacturing environment.

This role will manage a team of Supply Chain Specialists and serve as the primary liaison between suppliers, production, quality, and leadership to ensure uninterrupted production and on-time deliveries.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Materials Management, Supply Chain, Procurement, or Inventory leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading procurement, purchasing, inventory, or materials teams.
  • Strong ERP/MRP systems experience and advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience managing suppliers, purchase orders, inventory control, cycle counts, and material shortages.
  • Aerospace, Defense, Aviation, Medical Device, or other highly regulated manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Hands-on operational leader comfortable on the shop floor and working cross-functionally with production, quality, suppliers, customers, and leadership.
  • APICS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily materials, procurement, inventory, and supplier management activities to support production schedules and customer commitments.
  • Oversee purchase order execution, supplier follow-up, expediting, delivery commitments, and shortage recovery efforts.
  • Drive inventory accuracy through cycle counts, ERP/MRP transaction discipline, discrepancy resolution, and audit-ready records.
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Suppliers to resolve material shortages, traceability concerns, certifications, and documentation issues.
  • Monitor key metrics including supplier performance, past-due POs, inventory accuracy, shortage aging, and material availability.
  • Prioritize material movement and critical requirements to ensure uninterrupted shop floor execution.
  • Escalate supplier delays, inventory issues, and material risks impacting production or customer deliveries.
  • Negotiate supplier pricing, delivery schedules, and purchase order commitments.
  • Lead and develop Supply Chain Specialists, providing direction, training, accountability, and performance management.
  • Establish standard work, daily management routines, and continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and inventory functions.
  • Foster a culture of urgency, ownership, communication, and operational excellence while supporting employee development.
