Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing is seeking a Materials Manager for our Walker, MI plant. You will oversee the Materials Department to ensure accurate inventory, timely shipments, and efficient procurement of raw materials and subassemblies.

This role directs planning, scheduling, and warehouse operations to support production flow. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in materials planning/scheduling, leadership experience, and preferred ERP experience (Plex).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in a Materials Planner, Materials Scheduler or closely related role.
• Leadership experience required.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred (major in Supply Chain Management/Logistics is a strong plus).
• Experience with Plex Systems ERP strongly preferred.
• Previous experience in automotive industry preferred.
• Experience using GM Supply Power or Honda Web preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee materials planning and scheduling activities.
• Manage order processing (EDI and manual) and MRP/JRP/PRP.
• Oversee kanban and inventory management to hit on-time delivery.
• Coordinate warehousing, receiving, and shipping operations.
• Track cycle counts and maintain inventory accuracy.
• Collaborate with production scheduling and procurement teams.

They have responsibility in the oversight of the Materials Department to achieve operational objectives and customer satisfaction.
