Job summary

AMBULATORY SURGICAL CENTER - HOLLYWOOD, FL is seeking a Materials Manager to oversee daily supply operations, budgeting, and vendor negotiations within a busy ambulatory surgery setting.

You will maintain inventory on sterile supplies, ORs, and related areas, ensure accurate purchasing records, and optimize cost-saving opportunities while supporting perioperative operations.

Qualifications

  • Experience as materials manager in an Ambulatory Surgery Center setting.
  • Experience with Orthopedic and Spine cases highly preferred.
  • Experience in inventory management, purchasing, or logistics.
  • Knowledge ENVI inventory management system highly preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in all phases of materials management, including budgeting.
  • Experience as buyer in medical materials management or senior buyer preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Ordering and maintaining supplies, equipment, and materials for daily operation of the surgery center.
  • Creating a purchasing budget and operating within budget parameters.
  • Researching competitive pricing and negotiating with vendors for best rates.
  • Supervising records for ordering, receiving, and processing payment of requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Maintaining automated systems to support materials management functions.
  • Coordinating physical inventory and completing mandatory bi-annual reporting.
  • Monitoring savings opportunities, coordinating product evaluations, maintaining savings logs, and cost analyses.
  • Inspecting/rotating supplies to ensure sterile packaging integrity and current expirations.
  • Stocking areas timely and maintaining appropriate supply levels.
  • Assisting with ad hoc requests including OR setup, supply locations, and returns.

DUTIES
  • Ordering and maintaining the supplies, equipment, and materials necessary for the daily operation of the surgery center including sterile supply, ORs, Pre-Op and PACU, nurse stations, sterile processing department, etc.
  • Creating a purchasing budget and operating within the parameters of the budget.
  • Researching competitive pricing and negotiating with vendors to obtain best rates.
  • Supervising the maintenance of accurate records associated with the ordering, receiving and processing for payment all requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Maintaining the automated systems to support the materials management functions.
  • Coordinating and overseeing physical inventory and completing the mandatory reporting bi-annually at the facility.
  • Monitoring savings opportunities, coordinates product evaluations, maintains savings logs, performs cost analysis and works closely with staff in product evaluations.
  • Inspecting and rotating supplies to ensure sterile packaging integrity and current expiration dates.
  • Timely and proper stocking of areas and maintaining appropriate levels of supplies.
  • Assisting with ad hoc requests from supervisors including assisting with set-up of ORs, supply locations, rooms, returns, credits or donated supplies.
  • Overseeing all of the activities to assure the availability of necessary instruments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience as materials manager in an Ambulatory Surgery Center setting required.
  • Experience with Orthopedic and Spine cases highly preferred.
  • Experience in inventory management, purchasing, or logistics.
  • Knowledge ENVI inventory management system highly preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in all phases of materials management, including the ability to assist with the composition and administration of department budget.
  • Experience as buyer in medical materials management or a as senior buyer, preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
