Job summary

Ultipro is seeking an experienced Materials Control Supervisor to lead a multi-site team in delivering and controlling all production materials for trailers and chassis products.

You will establish plans for material presentation, delivery, and storage, working with Supply Chain and suppliers to implement Kanbans and Lean methods from supplier to assembly. The role requires strong ERP/MRP knowledge and proven cost-reduction impact.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management or related field required.
  • APICS certification a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years in materials/logistics management within design/manufacturing.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar environments.
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP, forecasting, and order policies.

Responsibilities

  • Plan material storage within sites using lean principles.
  • Develop systems for inventory forecasting, purchasing and material control.
  • Prepare delivery reports and communicate risks of late deliveries.
  • Schedule production by monitoring inventories and progress.
  • Coordinate with quality, engineering and manufacturing to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Maintain accuracy of inventory counts and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in materials budgeting and variance analysis.
  • Participate in MRB and CAR meetings to resolve quality issues.
  • Work with Purchasing, Engineering and Quality to reduce costs.
  • Maintain safe, compliant work environment per regulations.
  • Attend scheduled hours and maintain attendance.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of Material Control Supervisors across all sites to deliver and control all material being utilized in the production and assembly of trailers and chassis products.
  • Establish and implement plans for material presentation, delivery, and management of material from receipts to shipments.
  • Work cross functionally with Supply Chain team and Suppliers to implement Kanbans and lean methods to manage material from supplier site to assembly.
  • Establish and implement plans for storage of material within each site utilizing lean principles.
  • Establish and implement methods and best practices related to the systems and process that support inventory forecasting, purchasing, and material control.
  • Prepares customer delivery reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends and uses information to proactively communicate potential late deliveries.
  • Establishes and supervises production scheduling activities by monitoring material inventories, tracking progress of production and reviewing factors that affect schedules.
  • Coordinate and work with quality, engineering, machining, and assembly operations to ensure 100% on-time delivery by establishing and monitoring schedule to proactively identify and address any issues.
  • Responsible for accuracy of inventory counts by implementing and managing, in conjunction with Finance, an inventory control system, capable of identifying discrepancies in inventory counts and taking corrective action to guard against inconsistencies in the future.
  • Achieves financial objectives by working with management group to prepare the materials budget, schedule expenditures, analyze variances and initiate corrective actions.
  • Participates in MRB and CAR meetings to resolve quality issues working with both internal and external resources
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, and Quality to achieve cost reduction targets
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by implementing, maintaining, and aligning company policies that adhere to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.
  • Attend scheduled work hours on a regular and timely basis. Maintain good attendance.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or other related discipline
  • APICS certification a plus.
  • At least 5 years progressive experience in management of materials and logistics within a design and manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in Lean, total quality, six sigma, or other similar environments.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment, forecasting, order policy codes, etc.
  • Working knowledge of line side inventory, pull systems (KanBan), and supplier managed inventory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Ability to demonstrate solid written and oral communication skills.
  • Maintain and provide current understanding of industry best practices and technology trends
  • Identify tools, processes and metrics to optimize supplier value.
  • Ability to contribute in a cross functional collaborative environment.
  • Good technical writing, documentation, and record keeping skills.
  • Financial skills including cost modeling, cost analysis, make vs. buy analysis.
  • Ability to leverage metrics and other tools to drive supplier performance
