O’Neal Industries, Inc. is seeking a Materials Manager responsible for the Supply Chain, Materials Management and Logistics at a dedicated facility.

You will own inventory control, forecasting, MRO purchasing, and shipping/receiving to ensure accurate raw material levels and timely delivery to customers. You will develop forecasts with Sales, coordinate expediting with corporate buyers, and manage KPI reporting for inventory and logistics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or manufacturing field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience on material procurement; steel experience preferred.
  • APICS certification preferred; Lean systems and/or Six Sigma Green Belt pursued or completed.
  • Fluent English; strong MS Office suite proficiency.
  • Experience with ERP systems is required.

Responsibilities

  • Learn, apply and promote the Vision, Mission and Values of O’Neal Manufacturing.
  • Develop accurate and timely material forecast needs with Sales Management; assist strategic purchases.
  • Coordinate with Major Account Managers and Corporate Purchasing on expediting and spot buys.
  • Oversee receiving and shipping for raw materials, components, finished goods and externally processed material.
  • Ensure documentation accuracy, timely receipt and delivery to customers.
  • Measure and report KPI for shipping/receiving; monitor On-Time Delivery and related metrics.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy via cycle counts and corrective actions.
  • Identify and develop sources for MRO needs; drive total cost of ownership reductions.
  • Negotiate spot buys and freight; manage vendor performance and quality compliance.
  • Lead, coach and develop direct reports; ensure training needs are met.

Job description

This role is responsible for the Supply Chain, Materials Management and Logistics (SCMM&L) of a specific facility within the Division. The Materials Manager will be responsible for all issues related to Inventory Control, Inventory Forecasting, Tactical & MRO purchasing and Shipping / Receiving. Maintaining a proper and accurate raw material level is crucial for success in this role. The incumbent will routinely interact with associates at levels within the organization including Corporate, Divisional and Local plant.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Learn, apply and promote the Vision, Mission and Values of O’Neal Manufacturing.
  • Develop accurate and timely material forecast needs, working with Sales Management as needed. Assist the Administration Manager in developing information for consolidated strategic purchases.
  • Coordinate with Major Account Managers and Corporate Purchasing on expedites, manual buys and spot buy needs.
  • Oversee and coordinate receiving and shipping activities for raw material, purchased components, finished products and material that will be processed with an outside supplier.
  • Manage accuracy of shipment and receiving documentation, timely receipt of material and delivery to the customer.
  • Measure, track and report relevant KPI for the shipping receiving function. Including and not limited to: subcontract OTD, receiving and shipping accuracy.
  • oversee safe storage and identification of raw material and purchased components
  • Oversee and maintain an accurate level of inventory through cycle counting and implementing root cause / corrective actions when necessary.
  • Measure, track and report / improve relevant KPI’s for the Materials function. These could include but are not limited to: On-Time Delivery, MUV, Inventory Adjustments, Cycle Count Accuracy, Inventory Turns, Obsolete / Slow Moving and Premium Freight.
  • Responsible for monitoring and controlling all materials related Key Control documents such as Hold Code reports.
  • Identify and develop sources for MRO needs. Drive continuous improvement in the total cost of MRO items.
  • Identify, develop and manage sources for outside purchased components and processes.
  • Manage all freight carriers into and out of the facility.
  • Implement new technologies into the materials management functions that will improve delivery and reduce shipping / receiving errors.
  • Manage, coach, evaluate, and develop direct reports, and ensure training needs and requirements are met.
  • Responsible for providing error-free work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of the position.
  • Responsible for improvement project on his department
  • Implement cost reduction projects by standardizing material, change of suppliers, discount for volumes, consignment projects, etc.
  • Enforce Safety guidelines on his department.
  • Execute cycle counts and annual physical inventories.
  • -Negotiate spot buys and freight contractors.
  • Monitor vendor performance for on time delivery and quality compliance.
Skills and Qualifications
  • 3+ years in a managerial role.
  • 5+ years’ experience on material procurement. Steel experience preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook.
  • Experience with ERP system required.
  • Able to work in a high-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Bachelors degree in business or manufacturing field, or equivalent experience, required.
  • Speak conversational English.
  • APICS Certification preferred.
  • Lean Systems experience and / or 6-Sigma Green Belt or currently pursuing.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. as needed.
  • Ability to bend, stand, climb, twist and stoop for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform sedentary work including sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Have good vision of 20/30 with corrective lenses.
  • Ability to maintain coordination of hand and finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects with precision.
  • Travel as needed to accomplish desired results. Overnight travel may be required occasionally.
