Orion International in Massachusetts is seeking a Materials Manager to lead the flow of materials for its Hingham manufacturing operation. The role coordinates purchasing, planning, inventory control, and warehouse activities to ensure on-time production and delivery of custom power distribution equipment.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading materials, supply chain, purchasing, planning, or warehouse operations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control, MRP, supplier management, and production support.
  • Experience using SAP or another ERP system to manage materials and resolve discrepancies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and work across manufacturing, engineering, and quality functions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the materials team and establish clear priorities, performance measures, and development plans.
  • Ensure materials are available to support production schedules and customer commitments.
  • Monitor supplier deliveries and material shortages; coordinate recovery plans when supply issues threaten production.
  • Improve inventory accuracy through sound receiving, storage, cycle counting, and transaction practices.
  • Use SAP or a comparable ERP/MRP system to review demand, inventory, purchase orders, and material data.
  • Partner with engineering and purchasing to manage material changes, new parts, and obsolete inventory.
  • Improve warehouse organization, kitting, and material flow from receipt through production and shipment.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce excess inventory and cost while maintaining reliable material availability.
  • Promote safe work practices and continuous improvement across materials operations.

Job description

Seeking a Materials Manager to lead the flow of materials supporting its Hingham manufacturing operation. This leader will coordinate purchasing, material planning, inventory control, and warehouse activities to help production teams build and deliver custom power distribution equipment on schedule.
