Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Inc. in Baltimore, MD is seeking a Materials Management Coordinator II to support sourcing of materials and services and provide administrative support for the Materials Management department.

The role operates Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with a pay range of $22.25–$33.37 per hour. Candidates with purchasing experience and strong Microsoft Office skills are encouraged, and a potential annual bonus may be offered based on performance.

Qualifications

  • Two or more years of purchasing experience required.
  • Medical and/or Materials Management experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the sourcing of materials and services as directed.
  • Enter requisitions and stock requests into MM software (Direct Expense orders, Standing Orders, CapEx, Service contracts).
  • Perform proper receiving procedures on incoming materials and complete inspection paperwork.
  • Maintain reagent database in LIMS and ensure proper approvals before release of reagents to production.
  • Organize and maintain onsite inventory stockrooms.
  • Ensure reagents are organized and labeled in lab. Prepare critical reagent batches for QC testing.
  • Reconcile receiving transactions and/or invoices with vendors, AP, and purchasing.
  • Collaborate daily with Materials Manager, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Lab staff, vendors.
  • Provide admin support for Materials Management and comply with policies.

Materials Management Coordinator II - Baltimore, MD, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Responsible for assisting in the sourcing of materials and services and providing administrative support for the Materials Management department.

Pay range: $22.25 - $33.37 / hour

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the sourcing of materials and services as directed.
  • Enter the requisitions and stock requests into the Materials Management software system as required (including but not limited to: Direct Expense orders, Standing Orders, CapEx, Service contracts, etc.)
  • Perform proper receiving procedures on incoming materials and complete inspection paperwork as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining an accurate reagent database in the Laboratory Information Management System, including performing receipt activities within the system and ensuring proper approvals are received prior to release of reagents to production.
  • Assist in maintaining supplier material specification forms.
  • Organize and maintain onsite inventory stockrooms.
  • Ensure reagents placed in the lab are organized and labeled appropriately.
  • Prepare critical reagent batches for the lab to QC test and use.
  • Perform other reagent preparation tasks, such as aliquoting*, as needed
  • Ensure the lab is stocked appropriately while checking for expired or improperly labeled reagents.
  • Monitor and manage open orders and back orders to ensure material availability and timely receipt of merchandise. Keep requestors informed of order status.
  • Reconcile receiving transaction and/or invoice discrepancies with vendors, accounts payable, and purchasing.
  • Assist the Materials Manager in data collection and report preparation as needed.
  • Daily collaboration with Materials Manager, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Laboratory Staff, External Vendors, etc.
  • Provide administrative support for the Materials Management department as required.
  • Comply with all applicable and current Materials Management, Services Management, Human Resources, Employee Health and Safety, Compliance, OSHA, CLIA, etc. policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Required Work Experience
  • Two or more years of purchasing experience required.
Preferred Work Experience
  • Medical and/or Materials Management experience preferred.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Occasionally lift up to 70 lbs.
  • May require extended periods of focus on a computer screen.
  • May require extended periods of sitting or standing.
  • Ability to manage stress.
  • Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
Technical / Job Specific Knowledge
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel preferred.
  • Basic math skills and knowledge (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Basic knowledge of QuickBase preferred.

Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree B.A. or B.S. degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution, or; Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institute, preferred.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Accredited Purchasing Professional (APP), Certified in Inventory Management (CPIM), or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) (Preferred)
