Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs Rockport Works in Rockport, IN is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform tests on materials per QSOPs. You will handle samples, run analyses, and document results.

You will work in a safety-focused environment, maintain calibration of equipment, and collaborate with production teams to support testing needs, with a rotating shift that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to interact with peers and management positively.
• Adaptability to changing plans and priorities.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States full-time.

Responsibilities

• Collects, receives, and handles production and analytical samples, ensuring correct identification and testing priority.
• Performs mechanical and chemical testing (tensile, strength, elongation, grain structure, corrosion, carbon/sulfur, oxygen, chromate, phosphate).
• Records, reports, and communicates test results using Labware and approved data systems.
• Maintains calibration and performance checks of laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Collaborates with production teams to support analytical and formability testing needs.
